When it comes to celebrity relationships, barely anything is easy and nothing is private. Just like any normal person, stars make mistakes—sometimes the same mistake multiple times. It seems like celebs are "caught" in infidelity more than the average person, with all those tabloids sporting shocked faces at the grocery store check-out counter—and who knows if it’s true?

Constant obligations and strict time constraints can strain any relationship, no matter how strong the pair appears. However, famous couples are under persistent scrutiny from paparazzi and adoring fans, meaning their breakups are more publicized than the typical neighborhood divorce.

Well, it looks like love has taken its toll again with Adam Levine, lead singer of the band Maroon 5. He’d been married to Behati Prinsloo since 2014. The Namibian model was a Victoria’s Secret Angel, humanitarian and animal rights activist, having supported organizations out to protect the black rhinoceros.

The couple married in Mexico and they would go on to have two daughters together. And in the summer of 2022, she announced she was pregnant with their third child. But it seems mothering three of his children just wasn’t good enough because this Maroon decided to cheat on his beautiful, loving wife.

Allegedly he had been cheating with Instagram model Summer Stroh who recently went live on Tik Tok detailing that she had dated Levine for about a year. She even shared Instagram messages between the two. Stroh said of the affair, "At the time, I was young, I was naive and, quite frankly, I feel exploited."

Adam Levine denies any affair beyond the flirtatious messages that Stroh leaked to the public. In a statement Levine posted on Instagram, he said "I used poor judgment in speaking with anyone other than my wife in ANY kind of flirtatious manner,” going on to say, “I did not have an affair, nevertheless, I crossed the line during a regrettable period in my life."

Laura Dern was engaged to Billy Bob Thornton after three years of dating before the highly-publicized cheating scandal came to light. After Dern left home to work on a movie, Thornton apparently ghosted her so hard that she didn't know they were broken up until he married another woman. Who? None other than Angelina Jolie.

Dern and Thornton first met on Ellen in 1997 during DeGeneres' iconic coming-out episode. Dern was freshly divorced from Jeff Goldblum while Thornton was divorcing his fourth wife Pietra Dawn Cherniak.  Given his track record, we doubt anyone expected his fifth engagement to last. Surprise, surprise -- it didn't. 

Dern was patiently waiting to become Thornton's fifth wife when she found out Jolie beat her to the punch. “I left our home to go and make a movie, and while I was away my boyfriend got married, and I never heard from him again,” Laura Dern said about the affair to Talk in 2000. "It's like sudden death. For no one has there been any closure or clarity."

Thornton and Jolie obviously wasted no time taking their relationship to the next level. From wearing vials of each other's blood around their necks and prancing down red carpets hand-in-hand, spectators around the world concluded that Dern dodged a bullet. They divorced after two years. Thornton married for a sixth time in 2014 and Jolie notoriously inserted herself into another major celebrity relationship between Jennifer Aniston and Brad Pitt. 

Actor Dominic West is threatened with the end of his ten-year marriage to Catherine FitzGerald after photos leaked of him fraternizing with Lily James in October 2020. This warning occurred mere weeks after a staged photo between West and FitzGerald released, with the couple claiming, “Our marriage is strong and we’re very much still together,” according to a note left in front of their home.

Reporter’s from The Sun revealed that FitzGerald’s threats of divorce were exacerbated by West’s admission of having feelings for James. West and James were photographed together eating lunch and traversing around Rome on a scooter, paparazzi broadcasting the scandal to the public. This romance was quickly put to rest after the photos released.

Sources claim that Fitzgerald is clearly devastated behind the scenes, yet she refuses to publicly air out her frustrations. In response to questions from The Irish Independent about her marriage, she said, "It's had its ups and downs of course, like everybody, but we are totally devoted to each other and to our full, vibrant family life together." 

As for the other woman in this story, Lily James has remained relatively tight-lipped about the whole affair. On May 2, 2021, The Guardian published the Mamma Mia! 2 actress' reluctant comments: “Ach, I’m not really willing to talk about that. There is a lot to say, but not now, I’m afraid.”

A scandal seen around the world, the day pictures of Kristen Stewart kissing her Snow White and the Huntsman director leaked—shortly after the close of the Twilight film franchise—fans were left flabbergasted. Stewart and Robert Pattinson had been dating for three years when the news broke of Stewart’s cheating scandal with then-married Rupert Sanders.

On July 24, 2012, US Weekly released exclusive photos of the actress and director locking lips all over Los Angeles from earlier in the month. It appeared they spent the afternoon scouring the city for secluded spots to continue their not-so-secret love affair.  Once photos dropped, Sanders' wife simply reacted with a dismayed "Wow" and then deactivated her Twitter account. 

“This momentary indiscretion has jeopardized the most important thing in my life, the person I love and respect the most, Rob," Stewart said in apology. The couple continued to date for a year before splitting for good in 2013, says Livingly. And Pattinson? He nonchalantly told Esquire UK a year after the breakup that the cheating apparently didn’t affect him. “It's just young people...it's normal.”

Sanders released his own statement regarding the affair, telling US, "I am utterly distraught about the pain I have caused my family. My beautiful wife and heavenly children are all I have in this world. I love them with all my heart. I am praying that we can get through this together.” He and his wife Liberty Ross had been married seven years before officially divorcing in 2014.

More recently, Tristan Thompson and Khloe Kardashian’s tumultuous on-off relationship reached its climax in 2019 when Thompson kissed Kylie Jenner’s ex-best friend Jordyn Woods. This scandal wasn’t his first time cheating, however. Videos of Thompson fooling around with other girls were released throughout Khloe’s 2018 secret pregnancy and during her delivery!

Older sister Kim Kardashian told Ellen DeGeneres regarding the following: "Like, I don't even know how to describe it besides it's just so f—d up… It's a really sad situation all over." The Kardashian-Thompson pair hasn’t completely split, with their daughter True motivating them to remain a couple, and they were officially back together during the 2020 summer. Kylie Jenner and Jordyn Woods, however, haven’t reunited since the scandal.

Since the original cheating scandals with Jordyn Woods and the random party girls during her delivery, Khloé has (very reluctantly) allowed Tristan to remain in her life, whether romantically or platonically, for the sake of their daughter, True. Unfortunately, no matter how much work Tristan does to get back in her good graces, he's a serial cheater and can't seem to stay loyal.

Sources have told People that despite all of his mistakes, "Tristan's still trying to get Khloé back. He hasn't given up and he doesn't think the door is closed." But no matter how much he appears to want a relationship, it takes two to tango. According to E!, Khloé's "extremely disappointed in how things have played out with Tristan." 

Prince Charles and Princess Diana’s difficult 15-year marriage is no secret, as was the prince’s long-term affair with former girlfriend Camilla Parker Bowles. Princess Diana famously reported to the BBC’s Martin Bashir in 1995 "There were three of us in this marriage, so it was a bit crowded,” just a year after Charles confessed his infidelity. Diana became the Princess of Wales after she married Prince Charles in London on July 29, 1981. Despite looking like a fairytale, everything wasn't so behind the scenes.

Charles' feelings for his former flame were all but confirmed to Diana when she found out that he had a bracelet made for Camilla prior to the royal wedding. She told biographer Andrew Morton, "I walked into this man's office one day and I said, 'Ooh, what's in that parcel?' And he said 'Oh, you shouldn't look at that.' So I opened it and there was the bracelet. I was devastated." 

You could say their marriage got off to a rocky start. After their engagement, an interviewer asked the couple if they were in love. Diana responded, "Of course," but Charles' answer was less than satisfactory. He said, "Whatever in love means." That would raise some qualms for anyone to hear, especially your new fiance. 

In 1994, a mere three years before Diana’s tragic passing in France, Charles told The Daily Mail, "Do you seriously expect me to be the first Prince of Wales in history not to have a mistress?" His mistress Camilla turned wife in 2005 and the pair have remained a strong couple.

Legendary filmmaker Woody Allen has endured multiple career-ending accusations during his lifetime, ranging from infidelity to sexual abuse, yet his presence in the public eye remains steady. His affair with his ex-girlfriend’s adopted daughter Soon-Yi Previn definitely makes multiple lists of the most unconventional cheating scandals. While Allen and Mia Farrow were never married, they dated for multiple decades.

In his 50s at the time and Soon-Yi only 21, Allen received bouts of scrutiny for the relationship but didn't appear too worried about the backlash. To Time Magazine, Allen stated, "The heart wants what it wants. There's no logic to those things. You meet someone and you fall in love and that's that."

In 1992, Soon-Yi spoke up for the first time about the odd relationship, saying, “I’m not a retarded little underage flower who was raped, molested, and spoiled by some evil stepfather — not by a long shot.” She clarified the beginning of their romance during a 2018 tell-all with Vulture: “I know this is no justification. But Mia was never kind to me, never civil.

"And here was a chance for someone showing me affection and being nice to me, so of course I was thrilled and ran for it...," she continued. "I wasn’t the one who went after Woody — where would I get the nerve? He pursued me. That’s why the relationship has worked: I felt valued. It’s quite flattering for me. He’s usually a meek person, and he took a big leap.”

Country star Jason Aldean began his 12-year marriage to Jessica Ussery in 2001, fathering two daughters during that time. But when he walked out on Ussery in 2012 for American Idol contestant Brittany Kerr, his entire life changed. It was a decision that not only warped his fan's view of his character, but it also defined how his new relationship would function in the future.

Aldean first met Kerr at a bar in 2012 while he was still married to Jessica. Photos of them were released shortly after, which prompted both parties to release statements addressing the scandal. "I had too much to drink, let the party get out of hand, and acted inappropriately at a bar," Aldean wrote on his website. "I left alone, caught the bus to our next show and that’s the end of the story. I ultimately ended up embarrassing my family and myself."

"The truth is that I screwed up,” Aldean continued. “I really appreciate being able to work through this privately with my family and for all your continued support.” Despite this initial apology, Aldean divorced Ussery the following year, eventually marrying Kerr in 2015. Kerr merely called their initial flirting at the bar a "lapse in judgment," but it's clear that neither of them truly regret meeting each other. 

In defense of his reputation, with its constant public scrutiny, Aldean took to Instagram. “So sick of people judging me and @brittanylkerr over things they know nothing about. I have made mistakes but i am a better person because of it, and wouldn't change a thing... It's time to move on people.”

Jay-Z and Beyonce’s relationship appeared to be one of the strongest celebrity marriages until Bey’s album Lemonade was released in 2016, all but confirming Jay-Z’s infidelity with “Becky with the good hair.” The pair married in 2008, but since have gone through counseling to save the relationship from utter disaster.

“I want to have the emotional tools that it takes to keep my family together," Jay-Z told David Letterman after the fallout of his actions. "We did the hard work of going to therapy and you know, we love each other, right? So we really put in the work."

While the “other woman” of their relationship hasn’t been confirmed, many fans latched onto fashion designer Rachel Roy as the primary target. Briefly after Beyonce released her album, Roy posted on Instagram with the caption "Good hair don't care." It’s an oddly close-to-home thing to say, but “Becky’s” true identity remains a mystery.

A year following his wife's explosive album, Jay Z released a response with the album 4:44 where he highlights his regret. Particularly poignant lyrics include, "If my children knew, I don't even know what I would do / If they don't look at me the same I would probably die of all the shame," as well as, "I apologise, often womanise, took my child to be born, see through a woman's eyes. / Took for these natural twins to believe in miracles. Took me too long for this song. I don't deserve you."

From their adorable engagement on Eniko Parrish's 30th birthday to having their second child together, Kevin Hart's marriage life hasn't always been #couplegoals. In 2017, Hart initially denied claims that he wasn't faithful to his wife, but when a compromising video circulated on social media of him with another woman, Kevin Hart realized that he had to own up to some embarrassing mistakes.

On the radio show The Breakfast Club, he said, “I’m guilty, regardless of how it happened… That’s Kevin Hart in his dumbest moment.” His wife Eniko Parrish, who was eight months pregnant at the time, revealed in the Netflix documentary Don't F--- This Up her tearful reaction to the video. "[I] immediately I just lost it.”

Montia Sabbag, the woman at the center of the cheating video, denied accusations of her being a stripper on Inside Edition. If that wasn't bad enough, whoever released the video attempted to extort Hart for millions, causing Sabbag to accuse him of secretly filming their affair. Those charges were dropped, but the pain lingered. 

Monique “Momo” Gonzalez, another woman allegedly part of Hart’s affair, brushed off pictures of the pair together in a car. “When they make something out of nothing you just gotta laugh – I know who I am and my truth,” Monique wrote on Instagram. Luckily for Hart, Parrish is all about forgiveness, as long as the person she's forgiving is accountable and commits to self-improvement.

David Letterman and wife Regina Lasko married in 2009 after two decades of dating. A years-long affair between David Letterman and his assistant Stephanie Birkitt suddenly came out in the open when her then-boyfriend -- producer Robert Halderman -- tried to extort Letterman for keeping mum about his dirty little secret.

Three weeks prior to confessing his indiscretions, Letterman received a package in the mail blackmailing him. If he didn't pay $2 million to the extortionist, then all of his sins would be aired to be public in a tell-all style. According to Letterman, the package contained a letter threatening him with "I know that you do some terrible terrible things and I can prove that you do these terrible things..."

“It was stupid behavior,” Letterman admitted on his show in 2009. “You wake up every morning and you’re scared and you’re depressed and sad, and you kind of got to let that knock you down and knock you down.” He aired out his transgression live on air to his friends, fans, and family, which is something most people wouldn't have the courage to do.

He went on to say, "When something happens like that, if you hurt a person and it’s your responsibility, you try to fix it. And at that point, there’s only two things that can happen: either you’re going to make some progress and get it fixed, or you’re going to fall short and perhaps not get it fixed.”

On Thanksgiving night, 2009, Tiger Woods was kicked out of his house by his wife Elin Nordegren. Apparently, she found out he’d slept with 15 other women. She filed for divorce at the end of the year, even with Woods checking into rehab for rampant sex addiction that destroyed their marriage.

 The accusations lost him up to $12 million in sponsorship deals on top of his marriage. In 2010, Woods televised an apology to his family and fans: "I thought I could get away with whatever I wanted to... and deserved to enjoy all the temptations around me... I was wrong. I was foolish."

Jamie Jungers was just one of Woods’s many mistresses, and she blasted Woods for not practicing safe sex and being a cheap date on Howard Stern’s show. She even won $75k in Stern’s “Tiger Woods’ Mistress Beauty Pageant,” securing the infamous (and undeniably embarrassing) title of “Miss Mistress.”

Since their very public divorce, Nordegren has said very little about her feelings after the fact. In 2014, she told People “I have moved on, and I am in a good place. My relationship with Tiger is centered around our children, and we are doing really good – we really are – and I am so happy that is the case. He is a great father.” Despite the tragedies they've endured, the former couple remains "best friends" on behalf of their shared children.

After twenty years of dating and nearly a decade-long marriage, Robin Thicke’s wife Paula Patton finally called it quits in 2015. Thicke, with his quick rise to fame for his hit single "Blurred Lines," apparently cheated on Patton with seven other women. Not only that, he was found in bed with two women by his wife!

Talk about every person's worst nightmare! Despite appearing like the "cool wife" when pictures were released of Thicke groping and dancing with other women, the couple eventually separated due to "irreconcilable differences." They released a joint statement that said, "We will always love each other and be best friends; however, we have mutually decided to separate at this time." 

A year before their public 2014 divorce, Thicke was caught making out with avid-fan Lana Scolaro, his wife “only a few feet away,” as told by Scolaro to Life & Style Magazine. “I don't think he cared what she thought," she said without pause. “His hands were everywhere."

What seemed like a civil separation quickly evolved into a messy divorce. From accusations of abuse to barring custody rights and court-mandated therapy, Patton and Thicke obviously had more issues going on behind-the-scenes than they let on. There's a difference between what Thicke called "functioning dysfunction" and complete incompatibility. 

Legendary actor Arnold Schwarzenegger’s affair against Maria Shriver exploded into a nasty divorce in 2011. In a shocking paternity revelation, Mildred Patrica Baena had a son with Schwarzenegger in 1997 that he didn’t realize until his housekeeper’s son started looking eerily similar to him. On top of the Baena scandal, the actor claimed in his autobiography that he had cheated with Brigitte Nielson before his two-decade-long marriage even began.

The affair allegedly went down in 1996 when Arnold stayed behind to film a movie while the rest of the family went on vacation. Neither party breathed a word of the brief relationship until the Los Angeles Times released the story. Shriver found out about the paternity and cheating scandal when she confronted her husband during a therapy appointment. He simply admitted, "It's true." They divorced shortly after. 

The legendary actor had a habit of keeping things secret from his wife, ranging from hiding his need for a 1997 heart surgery and surprising her with his political bid for California governor days before his campaign was announced. Schwarzenegger eventually owned up to his mistakes during a 2015 interview with Howard Stern:

"I had personal setbacks, but this was, without any doubt, the biggest setback and the biggest failure. Without any doubt. Not only failure, but you feel like, 'I'm to blame for it. It was me that screwed up.' And you can't point the finger at anyone else. So yeah, I was disappointed in it. It's always easy to be smart in hindsight. The thing was how do you make the best of that situation?"

When Harry Met Sally and Sleepless in Seattle actress Meg Ryan was the last person fans expected to be caught in a cheating scandal against then-husband Dennis Quaid. After meeting Russell Crowe on the set of a 2000 thriller film, there was “instant chemistry,” according to Mirror, and the rest is history.  

The affair barely lasted to December, with Crowe moving faster than Ryan liked, and they eventually split. The affair wasn’t the sole cause of her divorce with Quaid, Ryan told InStyle in a 2008 interview. “It was a great story, but what wasn't in the story was the reality of my marriage,” she said. “Dennis was not faithful to me for a long time, and that was very painful. I found out more about that once I was divorced.”

She further justified her affair on The Oprah Winfrey Show, saying, "My marriage was a ... very unhealthy marriage. I probably should have left it much earlier. I was very sad that it came apart in the way it seemed to have. It was never about another man. It was just about what my and Dennis' relationship couldn't sustain... I didn't leave my marriage for Russell Crowe. I left my marriage."

Dennis Quaid obviously wasn't happy to be cheated on, but he's even less impressed that the end of their relationship is continually brought up in the media years after the fact. "It was eight years ago, and I find it unbelievable that Meg continues publicly to rehash and rewrite the story of our relationship," he told New York Daily News. "Also, I find it regrettable that our son, Jack, has to be reminded in a public way of the turmoil and pain that every child feels in a divorce."

If you thought things couldn't get worse than walking in on your partner with other women, how about your husband admitting to your face that he was going to be a father... but not to your kid. Acting duo Jack Nicholson and Anjelica Huston’s 17-year relationship ended nastily when Nicholson blatantly admitted he was fathering a child with Rebecca Broussard. 

Huston and Nicholson led a tumultuous 17year relationship before Huston decided she couldn't let herself suffer from his decisions any longer. She admits to the NY Post that jealousy was always an issue for her with Nicholson, and for good reason. When she asked him about marriage, he apparently replied, ‘Marry you? Are you kidding?,' causing her to “sob for three days." 

Nicholson said their breakup was “quite a quandary” during an interview with Parade. “I immediately told her what was up, and she made the decision for us. Anjelica’s first response was, ‘You have to support this woman,’ Her second response was to come down to my job and beat the hell out of me. She really beat me up, I tell you.”

Huston confirmed Nicholson's claims of a "beatdown" after their split. While she was originally civil about the whole affair, saying, "There’s only room for one of us women in the picture, and I am going to retire from it,” her tranquility didn't last long. Playboy published a story about Nicholson fooling around with another woman days later, sending her into a rage. “I felt a strange underlying gratitude to him for allowing me to beat the living hell out of him.”

A six-year strong marriage between Kenneth Branagh and Emma Thompson crashed when Helena Bonham Carter pulled an Angelina Jolie and threw herself into the mix. There's no one like a homewrecker to spice up a relationship! After meeting on the set of Frankenstein, Branagh and Carter dated for four years.

Branagh and Thompson met on the set of mini-series Fortunes of War, tied the knot in 1989 after two years, and sustained their romance for six years before allegations surfaced. They appeared as happy as can be prior to the scandal, even being considered "the golden couple of British cinema" at the time. When they divorced in '95, they pinned the cause on conflicting work schedules rather than infidelity.

Accordingly to Livingly, the Branagh’s cheating helped Thompson deliver a believable performance for Love, Actually. "I had my heart very badly broken by Ken,” she said. “I’ve had so much bloody practice at crying in a bedroom, then having to go out and be cheerful, gathering up the pieces of my heart and putting them in a drawer.”

Thompson put the scandal behind her during a 2013 interview with The Sunday Times, saying it was "all blood under the bridge" and that "you can’t hold on to anything like that. It’s pointless. I haven’t got the energy for it. Helena and I made our peace years and years ago.”
